Confirmation

Once you have completed your registration transaction, you will be presented with a confirmation screen. This screen will confirm whether your business name has been successfully registered, or if you have successfully applied to register a business name but the registration cannot complete until for example:

Print a copy of your transaction

From the confirmation screen you can immediately print a copy of the transaction (available as a PDF) to save for your records.

Record of registration and ASIC key

Once all outstanding matters (if any) have been finalised and we have received your payment you will receive an email to confirm your registration and an ASIC key to link to your business name in your online ASIC Connect account. If you elected to pay now during your registration application, you should receive this email notification almost straight away.

You will also receive a record of registration, which will contain all of the details provided in your registration application and a summary of the information that will appear on the public register. Records of registration are generally dispatched within 24 hours of receipt of payment.

When is my business name considered registered?

The start date of your business name registration will be the date from which we have accepted your name for registration and we have received your registration fee.

If you lodge your application in ASIC Connect and your name is available and you choose to 'pay now' by credit card, the start date of your registration will generally be that day.

However, if the application requires a manual review or you choose to 'pay later' by BPAY or invoice, the start date of your registration will be later.

Do I need to display my record of registration?

From 28 May 2012, there is no longer a requirement to display a certificate of registration of a business name. However, we have designed the first page of the record of registration to look like a certificate so that you can display it if you wish.
